For Australians to compete globally we really have to increase our skills and what that means for many Australians is reskilling throughout their career. At rmit online we've made it our mission to create a community of lifelong Learners successfully navigating the world at work.
I get to experience all these wonderful organisations sharing their voice of Industry as we collaborate together building awesome courses that hopefully are going to change people's lives.
People have got busy lives these days and we recognise that work is what you do not where you go so we created a hybrid first environment at RMIT online to ensure that our staff can actually work the best way they can for the benefit of our students.
I have to say RMIT online is probably the most flexible place I've ever worked. To be able to see my kids in the morning, take them to daycare but then also sit behind my desk at home make coffee and get stuck into the awesome work that we do.
Um we have people working in different states, you know we have people who need to do early starts or late finishes, we even have a policy to allow people to work anywhere in the world for 6 weeks of the year which is pretty much unheard of like it's fantastic.
I never thought I would end up in leadership when I first started here the development opportunities here are many and there's so many supportive people.
But as the business is constantly evolving it's allowing people to create opportunities for themselves. We also have a mentorship program where people can really tap into those skill sets that people have across the business and um lead your own development.
It's a company that has a very entrepreneurial mindset while still being very established so it's kind of the best of both worlds.
Prior to joining RMIT Online I studied multiple future skills short courses now I get access to those courses for free which is one of the great perks of working for RMIT Online.
We have monthly showcases where people show off their stuff uh we have a hackathon the last one was all about AI so um you're not going to get bored.
We also have a music group um where we jam every now and then which yeah makes it more like a community than just work.
Socially it's fun I got dragged to karaoke the other night we all bonded and it was it was fun so yeah. I think it's so much fun that you get to go into the office and you just get to like relax and be yourself. From day one I felt very welcome um everyone from different teams no matter what they do um I just felt like I was in the right place you know.
We are a group of passionate, purpose driven individuals, coming together to create meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives.
We empower people to do the best work they can. You’re valued and rewarded for your expertise.
We are a team of lifelong learners who, like our students, strive towards growth.
We operate in a hybrid model. There is a lot of flexibility to work remotely within Australia, or from our Melbourne CBD office.
We try things others haven't to help people get ahead. Some are risky and work and some don't - we learn from both.
We never walk past a problem. We speak up, pitch in and own it. If something isn’t working, we work to fix it.
We focus on making an impact on thousands of working lives with what we do. Every one of us makes a difference every day.
We thrive when we all work as one - teammates, students and partners.
We pride ourselves on being a respectful, diverse and inclusive community where people are at the centre of our business.
Our office is in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. For those that enjoy coming in, our workplace is a casual dress, open plan space, with a well-stocked kitchen, breakout rooms, end-of-trip facilities, lockers, parents' rooms, and more.
We offer flexibility, ongoing learning and development plus a wonderful sense of community where we each have a voice and our ideas matter.
Our people are the backbone of our success. Hear first hand from them about their experience working at RMIT Online.
I joined RMIT Online 5 years ago as Marketing Director. In 2020, my role was expanded to Marketing & Student Acquistion, which means my team now look after the full sales and marketing funnel and help connect potential students with the right course for them.
I like so many things about working at RMIT Online, but it ultimately comes down to the two P's - Purpose & People. From when I first joined RMIT Online, our purpose resonated with me as someone who had done an IT degree and upskilled - to be here today leading a Marketing & Sales function. The world of work has and is changing everyday and being part of an organisation that is helping the lifelong leaner navigate and prepare for that is pretty special. And of course there's the amazing people that make up RMIT Online. They are a bunch of super intelligent, passionate and humble humans who are helping deliver on our purpose and make coming into work fun everyday.
We are an impact driven business, so I love that we are constantly looking at and measuring the impact we are having on our students on a regular basis. We live and breathe numbers and student outcomes. And whilst we are focused on this, we also know how to have fun along the way and celebrate the successes and learn from our failures.
Early 2017 was the start of my RMIT Online journey. I am Head of Delivery Partnerships, which lies somewhere between being a United Nations diplomat and delivering operational excellence across a complex partner ecosystem. During my tenure, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to RMIT Online across various roles, partnership and account management, project lead for the new LMS and a secondment to Learning & Teaching Manager.
Once in a while, we find ourselves in exactly the right workplace. For me, RMIT Online is that place. A place where I have the privilege of working with some of the greatest (mostly female) leaders in my career history. A place where I am valued for my contribution to the organisation. A place where my/our work matters, enriching student lives through education. It’s a killer combination that propels me to give it my best.
I have the privilege of wearing many different hats at once; I need to have a working knowledge of departments, partners and company direction to achieve the best outcomes for students, colleagues, partners and RMIT Online. Besides the leadership aspect, I thrive on the diversity of being able to dive into a spreadsheet with the finance team one day, deal with operational issues the next day or manage a contract that will set RMIT Online up for future success.
Every day is an adventure, and I toggle between cheerleader, diplomat, and mentor. I love the crazy, imperfect, yet purposeful human connection aspect of my role.
I joined RMIT Online in late 2018 as People Business Partner and was later promoted to People & Culture Manager in 2022. What I like most about working at RMIT Online is the amount of trust the leaders place in us to get the job done and the support everyone is willing to provide to help us get there always. Failure isn’t a scary word here, we’re all encouraged to take risks and find smarter ways of doing things.
What I love about my job is how diverse it is and how it allows me to collaborate with the vast majority of our people on a number of areas and therefore learn about new exciting things pretty much every day.
What excites me the most about my day to day is the interactions I have with my team, my peers, our leaders and the wider business. Everyone is very approachable and there’s this shared sense that yes we’re here to do great things but we’re also here to have as much fun as possible along the way.
I first started with RMITO in August 2018 as a Student Success Advisor (SSA), and over the past 4.5 years have developed my leadership skills and capabilities, moving into a Team Lead role and then into my current role as Student Success Manager.
Two things I really appreciate about RMITO are the incredible people I work with, and the focus on professional development across the business. I wouldn’t be where I am today without these two facets of the business.
It’s motivating to work with people who are genuinely passionate about doing the best for our students. I can confidently say each SSA that has been part of Student Success has been driven by their desire to provide wonderful experiences for each person they interact with. What I love most is supporting such deserving people in their professional development during their time with us.
Honestly, the most exciting part of my day to day is working with the people around me. I am surrounded by people with an abundance of knowledge and the desire to leave things better than we found it. The people I work with day-in and day-out always have our students in the forefront of their minds, and that is what brings excitement and joy to my day.
I joined RMITO in 2021 as a Business Analyst in the Website team. I was fortunate enough to be seconded into a Product Owner role in 2022 to expand my skills further. At RMIT Online, we get to make a real impact in people’s lives. I also work with amazing people that support me in my lifelong learning journey. We collaborate and deliver things that impact everyone around us!
Every day, we get exponentially challenging tasks that require us to think critically and out of the box. As the saying goes, “a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”. I can see how I’ve improved from the Kevin 2 years ago before I joined RMIT Online and that’s what matters.
Finding the right study path can be one of the biggest decision in a person’s life that can alter their future. Helping people realise their goals and become a better version of their future self is a big source of motivation for me in my role.
We are looking to hire a world-class team who are true innovators in the online education sector. Our goal is to run an efficient and thorough interview process where you can ask us all your burning questions and for us to learn more about you - beyond your CV or Linkedin bio.
The first interview with RMIT Online will be a call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team. You will have a chance to learn more about our culture, the role and the team you will be joining. We will also take this chance to get to know you, your motivations, and your previous experiences to determine if we are a match.
The next step will be a video interview with the hiring manager, where they will assess your behavioural and technical aptitude skills. This will allow you to understand more about the role requirements and meet your potential future manager.
Sometimes combined with Stage 2, you will be invited to showcase your skills, strategic thinking and technical ability by completing a technical challenge or presentation. You will present this task to a few members of the team, so we can learn more about how you perform in your craft and you can get a feel for the type of work you’d be doing.
We want to hear your story before you join! This final conversation is a time for us to revisit anything that either side feels they need to learn more about each other. This will be a conversation with a member of our Executive Team or a Senior Leader. They will walk through your history, what you’ve learned over your career, your successes and your biggest learnings.
Be sure to join our RMIT Online Talent Community! By creating a web
profile and telling us a little more about yourself, you'll be the first
in line to hear about any new and exciting opportunities here at RMIT
Online.
